Specimen Required:Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) OR Lavender (EDTA) OR Hearin plasma – 1 ml serum or plasma.
Specimen Preparation: Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer plasma to a Standard Transport Tube.
Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated
Unacceptable Conditions: Room temperature specimens. Specimens containing particulate material or obvious microbial contamination. Hemolyzed or lipemic specimens.
Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 5 days; Frozen: Indefinitely (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)
