What Cancer Blood Tests Are

The Platinum Diagnostic Lab cancer blood tests available will provide physicians with reliable information to base their clinical decision-making on. One of the most common tests run is a complete blood count (CBC). This test will provide information about the types of cells in the blood that your patients have and their respective quantities. Blood cancers can be detected using this test, amongst others. A bone marrow biopsy may also go alongside a CBC to facilitate or verify diagnosis.

Testing protein levels within the blood may also be carried out at Accu Reference. These tests examine the different types of proteins within the blood, and can also identify abnormalities among immune system proteins. Individuals with myeloma, for example, and other types of cancer will often display elevated levels of certain protein profiles, which can all be further explored after identification. This insight can be used in conjunction with other diagnostic tests to diagnose or confirm a patient’s disease status.
